Richard is handsome enough, I guess. I don't really like most of the nicknames though.
Oh my gosh, I know tons of Richards. So many I could never give you a number (check out it's popularity in the US). Most of them I know are older or middle aged. I had a great uncle who went by Dick, and another who just went by Richard. I think he went by Dick when he was younger though. I have another great uncle who goes by Rich. (Woah, didn't realize I had so many great uncles named Richard!) I have an uncle who goes by Rick, and my soccer coach from high school went by Rick. And I have a friend Richard from high school who goes by Rick (so he's like 22-23).
I think it would seem a bit dated on a baby boy, but not a whole lot. I could see it getting more popular again because it's a classic name, which are sort of coming back I think.
