[Opinions] WDYTO Phyllis?
I've been almost liking Phyllis lately since I've been using it regularly in my job with an elderly lady by that name. I also just recently watched an adaptation of 'The Railway Children' by E. Nesbit in which there is a young girl named Phyllis. I've been struck by its similar sound to Phoebe which I adore. I also just looked up the meaning "foliage" and rather like it as autumn is my favorite season. Taken all together I can't really make up my mind whether I like the name Phyllis or not. I used to think it so old sounding but now I'm starting to think it's not that bad, especially the combo Phyllis Evelyn. So WDYTO Phyllis and Phyllis Evelyn? What are your opinions on the nn Phyl or Lis? All comments are much appreciated! :)

Even if it didn't make me think "old", I don't think I'd like it.As it stands, most Phyllises I've met are now over 60 and my great aunt Phyllis will be 101 in Jan.

I really like both Phoebe and Phyllis, and they both have wonderful meanings. There is an adorable little girl named Phyllis in my church. :-)Phyllis Evelyn sounds nice. I think Phyl is a more natural nn, but Lis is fine as well.

I don't think Phyllis is necessarily too old fashioned. It's just hard for me to imagine someone under the age of like 20 with the name. I'm pretty neutral about the name. I'm pretty neutral about Evelyn too, but I don't think I'd use the two together.Actually, I'd probably be more inclined to use Evelyn instead of Phyllis just because I like the nickname Ev more than the nickname Phyl.

Phyllis Evelyn is definitely refreshing, and quite cute. We are in dire need of names with an old fashioned charm to it like names like Barbara, Rosetta, Harriet, and Phyllis. I think they deserve a comeback just like Lucy, Emma, and Isabella are getting. Go 4 it!! I think it would be a great asset in a world with my little Betty Jean. lol
