[Opinions] baby girl, now twins!
Just had my 1st ultrasound (6wk). It's early, but there are two (girls by genetic testing)! Just getting started with the naming. Isis & Asia are their "womb names." (I know it's quirky, but I see no harm in it.) My son is Oliver Samuel. Would like something easily spelled & recognized but not used every day. Some that have caught my ear:Azalea (difficult to spell?, but I LOVE saying it)
Vivian
Elise
Hazel
Sage (as mn only)
Bianca (as mn only)I love the Spanish pronunciation of many names, but not the English (for example: Giselle 'his' 'elle' vs 'gis' 'elle'). We use both languages at home. Azalea appeals to me on this ground.
My maternal gma was Ruby Ester Ferguson Leathers. I would love to honor her, but the only thing I thing I think I could live with is something beginning with her nickname "B".
Thanks for your input. Please tell me what you really think. My friends are nice enough to tell me everything I think of is marvelous.

I love Hazel and Elise as twin names. And I love the names Sage (not sure how I like it spelled though)and Bianca as well. Very nice choices.

If you like Azalea, perhaps you would also like Amaryllis (am-uh-RILL-as). I have a personal fondness for that name myself :)I LOVE Vivian and Elise!More names you may like:Adrienne
Theodora
Priscilla
Amelie
GiselleHazel is nice, but nms. Sage is a bit corny to me, just because of overuse in my area, but I like Bianca... Blanche is nice too.

I like . . .Azalea
Vivian
Elise
Hazel
BiancaMy favourite pair from these would be:Vivian Elise
Hazel BiancaVivian & Hazel is a lovely set!Since you like Azalea, I was wondering whether you'd considered Acacia? It's pronounced a-KAY-sha and it's another plant name. Another slightly unusual name that sprang to mind was Keturah.:-)

Wow! What great news! Of the names you posted I think that Vivian and Bianca make an excellent sibset. Since Sage and Azalea both have a natural feel, how about using them as mn's?
Bianca Sage
Vivian Azalea
Congrats again! I can't wait to hear what you pick!

I didn't realize it, but Sage, Hazel, & Azalea are all plants. I guess I like plant names. Thanks so much for your input. I'll have plenty of time to sleep on it. Frankly, I'm really nervous at this point about loosing them & this is something to occupy myself this evening. Thanks again, Gina

Firstly, congrats on your news! How exciting for you! Ok, so here are some suggestions:What about the name Ruby? You don't like it at all? Because that would be the most obvious choice, if you want to honor your gma. I personally love the name, it's my fave actually. The names from your list that I like are:
Azalea
Elise
Hazel
Bianca I do think that Azalea might cause some problems though. I think people may find it hard to spell and even be confused as to the pronunciation. What about using it as a mn instead?I like the combos Hazel Bianca and Shari Azalea. I think Hazel and Shari make a really pretty twin set. I also like Phoebe Azalea, Imogen Azalea, Erin Azalea, Meg Azalea, Faye Azalea, Roxanne Azalea, Kathryn Azalea and Celeste Azalea.Hope that gives you a few more ideas. Keep us up to date about your "name quest"!

I think you're right about Azalea. It would be awkward. I think it might make a middle name that she won't cringe over. Of the others I favor Hazel today, but I have a good while to mull it over. Thanks for your help, Gina

Congratulations! You had me scared that you actually were naming them Isis and Asia... Vivian Sage, that would be adorable! I prefer spelling Vivianne, but ither is cute! :)

baby girl, now twinsI read about the IVF genetic testing (not terribly in-the-know about all that, but I know a bit) but you already know it's twins?? Anyway.... Congrats to you, and good luck. I love Oliver Samuel, btw. (Why does your subject heading say "baby girl, now twins" if you already have a son, not a daughter?...Maybe I'm just confusing myself. :b) Of your options, I like: Vivian
HazelAnd I love Ruby Ester, btw.
What about Beatrice / Beatrix / Beatriz to honor her?

Pardon me. In an effort to be brief I was confusing. I had previously posted under the heading "baby girl." I was surprised to find out just today that there are two gestational sacs. It is very early yet, but both are of correct size for dates.
Thanks for your input. As much as I enjoy saying it, I think Azalea is a little out there. To my ear, names that end in "y" like Ruby should be nicknames. Thanks again, Gina

To honor your grandmother you can also choose a name with the same meaning, Ester means 'star' so you could use these as mn or fn to honor her:
Danika / Danica
Sitara
Yildiz
Stella
Sterre
Seren
Dara
Astra
Astraea (I love this, but it would be hard to spell)
Estrella (mn of my little cousin :)An other way to honor her would be using another gemstone:
Almas
Esmeralda
Neelam
Safira (I think this would go well with Azalea)Maybe you could name one with an gemstone and one with a star :)
From your list I like Azalea, Vivian, Sage
I dislike Bianca, the others are ok.other suggestions:
Rosalia / Rosalina
Amaya
Oleander ('rose tree' Greek)
Verena
Vanora ('white wave' Celtic)
Celina
Leanora
Kalea
Eveline

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. It may take me a minute to digest it, but I like Esmerelda, Amaya, Safira (never heard this last one before.) You don't think Azalea is too unususal? I know it's a matter of taste. -Gina

I think Azalea is unusual, but recognisable, isn't that what you want? I don't think it's too unusual to use. You seem to love it, so that's always a good reason to use it. (and again I think Azalea and Safira sound really good together)
And congratualations ( I forgot to say it in my last post :)

Wow, I have to say that 6 weeks is a might bit early for doing an amniocentesis Congrats! Anyway, of your list I like
Azalea
Vivian
Hazel
Bianca (as mn only)

It wasn't amnio (impossible in a 9mm gestational sac). It was pre-implantation genetic testing (in-vitro).

I thought that too but I did not want to infer you had IVF

I can't have Oliver & Olivia. I love both names, but to me it's the same name. Ophelia looks good, but to say it, it's too "feely". My dog (who is part of the family) is Opal. The long "O" is a little too strong for my taste for a child. Thanks for your help. I appreciate your input.
