Luca in Romanian is a masculine name though, related to English "Luke".
It's one of the VERY few first names in Romanian that end in -a. The only others that I can think of are "Mihnea", "Mircea", "Manea" (out of use or only in use in surnames), "Voinea" (likewise).
I SERIOUSLY doubt it's connected at all.
The Romanian masculine of Lucius is "Lucian", which is a masculinized form of the name "Lucia", whose origins I explained in my previous message. Not Luca. Luca is originally Greek.
