How would you prn the name Ayda? Could it be prn "A-duh"?
Also, I found on another site that the name Aida is Italian and means "Happy". Could this be prn "A-duh" (like Aidan)? And could I use Ayda as an alternate spelling of it and still have the meaning "Happy"?

I would pronounce Ayda as EYE-da, though if I were told it was A-duh it wouldn't seem unusual.
No, I don't think it would be considered a variation of Aida as they are said so differently. It looks more like a variation of Ada.

I prefer it spelled Ada or Adah but Ayda would work.

Yes, Ayda could be pronounced AY-da. I can't think of any other way to pronounce Ayda. Aida is pronounced ah-EE-da.
I don't think Ayda would still mean the same as Aida because they aren't pronounced the same. Emily and Emmileigh do still mean the same thing, but AY-da (Ayda) would rather be a variation on Ada and mean the same as Ada.
I much prefer Ada, by the way. Ayda looks weird and trendy.

I like Ada, but do you think people would mispronounce it?

hmmmm I think in Europe (non English speaking countries) people might say AH-da, but in all English speaking countries people would say AY-da. If you live in a non English speaking country: I think it would be easy to correct people. You just tell them and they'll remember. Ada is pretty simple, it's not like you're using Kayghtelynne Rennae or something. Ada looks much nicer than Ayda. I also read that Ayda was a Hebrew name, if so, it is probably pronounced EYE-da in Hebrew.

Ayda is a bit of a contrived attempt at modernising Ada IMO. I really like Ada, it is a lot simpler IMO. Aida is also lovely and can be prn ay-duh IMO. I don't really think that you can change the letters in a word and claim that it has the same meaning.
Ayda isn't the same name as Aida - I much prefer Aida as it seems more traditional but Ada is my favourite.
