Okay I bet this has been asked a million times before but I really need your help. How do you pronounce Thalia ?
I am pretty sure this is supposed to be pronounced with three syllables at least in Greek. Not that I know much about the Greek language. But does the th sound even exist in Greek ? I mean the English th as in "that" or "then" ? Just wondering because that sound doesn't exist in any other language I speak (I speak 5 of them) so I am just wondering whether the th should be pronounced with a th or a t sound. then i wonder whether the emphasis is on the first or second syllable. a guy who used to teach greek said it is on the second syllable. but now i don't know whether the i should be pronounced ee or eye.
Okay the prounuciations that make sense to me are:
tah-LEE-ah (this makes the most sense to me followed by:)
TAH-lee-ah
also making sense are
THA-lee-ah
tha-LEE-ah
tah-LYE-ah
tha-LYE-ah
the ones that don't make much sense to me are
TALL-ya
TAHL-ya
TAYL-ya
THAYL-ya
and anything else with two syllables.
this is just my opinion of course.

2. I don't know what the Greek pronunciation is--the website doesn't provide one and there are several different pronunciations given in the comments. I just go with TAHL-ee-ah because I like it the best.

1. The way I pronounce it depends on the person with the name. I prefer THA-lee-ah
2. The stress is on the first syllable, so THA-lee-ah is the easiest way to probably explain the Modern Greek pronunciation. This site doesn't have the stress marks that exist in Greek. Wikipedia is a good place find the names with those so you at least know where the stress falls (they list the pronunciation of Thalia anyway). If you have any doubts about it, you can try the Greek translation of the page. It's a good place to start. I fill in the gaps with a Berlitz pocket Greek dictionary (yes, I am that big of a name nerd) and my Greek-American friend.

i think your pronunciation might be wrong. everybody can just add information to wikipedia, it only takes one second, you don't even have to be registered. The Oxford dictionary (I just checked) listed it as tha-LYE-ah so this might be right. but sometimes I think they mean the original form Thaleia (ei is pronouced eye in several languages) and Thalia might be tha-LEE-ah. not sure, though. i need to ask someone from greece :P

Well...
tha-LYE-ah would be the English pronunication. The "ei" diphthong in Modern Greek makes a long E sound like in the word seek.

Umm i like Talia and Thalia
There is one on a TV show and she pronounces it tah-LEE-ah.
I dont think its a big deal. I mean most people i think would think it was pronounced tah-LEE-ah or TAH-lee-ah so that really isn't a huge concern.
I love it!!! its soo cure and feminine. I also like the NN Leah. Happy to see someone thinking about/ using it! :)

Absolutely not! Kids at my school have survived names a lot more awkward than this. Thalia is fantastic- use it!

1. I'd pronounced it "thah-LEE-ah" on first glance. I think "TAH-lee-ah" is much prettier, though. I don't know if one of those is correct.
2. I'm pretty sure the "th" sound does exist in Greek. That's what theta (θ) is for. I don't know on what part of the name the Greeks put the emphasis, though.

1. I'd pronounce it TAL-ee-ə. Or maybe TAL-yə. I can't tell how many syllables it has. I think I might like THAL-yə best. Saying it with a hard T makes me think of talons.
