[Opinions] Ione
What are your thoughts on Ione? I pronounce it (eye-OH-nee). Similarly, what do you think of Iolanthe? I think I prefer Ione, but Iolanthe is growing on me as well.

I like Ione, there's a memorial bench near to where I live for an Ione and I always sit on it when I walk my dog. I knew the woman as well before she died (she was 90 about 7 years ago) and she was a really lovely lady so its a nice asociation for me. Ione is a great name but I also like Iona. Iolanthe makes me think of a landfill site for some reason and its a bit much spelling wise. don't like it.

They're alright. I should like them more than I do. I have to think about them too much when I say them, they don't really flow off the tongue too well.

Ione is absolutely hideous, but I find Iolanthe to be attractive. I tend to ike -anthe/-antha names.

I love Ione! I posted about it a while back. I don't care for how it looks though, so I have relegated it to middle name status. My name is a variation of Yolanda. Iolanthe just isn't attractive to me for some reason.

I have in mind a similar name for my [possible] daughter, Iona (aye oh na -or- ee oh na)...I like the/your pronunciation of Ione better (but the origin doesn't work for my set). How would you pronounce Iolanthe? If it's pronounce Yolanda, I like it, but people would get pretty frustrated being corrected on that ("why don't you spell it 'Yolanda' then?!"). :)I-O-Lan-The or Yo-lanthe is too soft for me :/Like you, I prefer Ione.

I kind of like it, but only in theory. It has a nice meaning to it and a sweetness about it, but I can't see it being used IRL. I don't like Iolanthe at all. I had to look up the pronunciation and I just don't like the sound or look of it.
