I like Ariel for a girl. I prefer the Arielle spelling and the ah ree EL pronunciation. I think it's one of those names that you have to tell people which way you want it pron. (like Andrea or Madeline) If you don't want to always have to give instructions about how to say it, you might want to steer clear. I have an odd name, but it doesn't bother me at all to correct people.
