Oh, I hate it. The Br- beginning, the fact that its first syllable is "bridge", the short -et ending, the way it rhymes with Gidget...I hate everything about the name. It doesn't help that I knew someone named Bridget who was weird and I didn't like. Anyway, Bridget's only saving grace is that Bridie could be a cute nn.

In elementary school, I knew a Bridget. She was on the short side. People called her Bridget the midget.

It's a nice name. It's not overused the way some names are. I've only known a few girls named Bridget. Cute, modern, nice.

I like it, I think it's tidy and powerful, but I think it has a lot of potential to seem too stern. I personally wouldn't use it because women in my husband's family wouldn't wear it well, IMO, and a daughter of mine would have their genes. But if I had married my tall thin outgoing ex, maybe .... haha. [/sinful]

I think it's a great name. I can see it on all ages and I don't have a 'typical' Bridget in mind although it's my cousin's name (she 33)

I love Bridget. I don't see how you can go wrong with it really. It has the same feel as Megan, but it has never gotten as popular. Even if it does get popular, which I don't see happening too soon, Bridget has a modern classic feel to it.

It's a nice enough name, if you can ignore the annoying Bridget Jones association.

I think it's cute. Reminds me of Bridget Jones; I don't know if that would be a good or bad thing for you.

I just had a dream we had a third child and I named her Bridget, and in my dream wondered if it clashed with Georgette (my daughter's name). Which I think it does.

Anyway, due to this dream I now like the name Bridget. I think it is pretty, not ostentatious, and I think the nn Jett or Bridie are super cute.

I really like it. It's sounds strong, which translates to 'harsh' for a girl's name, but it's beautiful to me. Underused, with a nice history and meaning. The most common variant I see is Bridie. I've known about four Bridies (one spelt Brydie) of various ages from around 8-35. I've only ever known one Bridget.

I think I'm the same.

I like Bridget a lot. Then again, it was one of the names I wanted to change my name to when I was a child. Anyway, I've never known one, believe it or not, and I'd love to see a baby Bridget one of these days.

I love Bridget. I'm biased because of my Irish mother, but it does have a fresh energy about it. It's one of those overlooked gems that should get more attention than it does.

The nns Bridie and Birdy are cute to me, but they're not everyone's cup of tea. My sister's MIL is called Bridie. She's from Ireland too.

I love Bridget, I'd probably use it if I had a daughter today, because it is one of very few names that I have liked consistently for many years.
