Joel ia a good name, I like it, although the only one I ever knew was "bad to the bone", did jail time even!

I love Joel. Don't know why it is not popular in USA/UK etc. But then Joseph (Josef) is not popular in Sweden but Joel is (we pronounce it YO-ell here).

Joel is a nice name but since we'll likely use Joseph as a mn for a son, we wouldn't consider it. To me it seems like a modern version of Joseph (I'm sure that is not accurate though)... I hadn't thought of pronunciations other than the one syllable way, but after reading other posts I think I prefer yo-ELL but imagine that would be difficult to use in the US.

A nice stable name. Also underused in the last few years. I'd like to see it come back.

I know two Joels one is a very cute 9-year-old boy and the other is a very cute tall dark (and handsome) college student! ;)
So to me it has a very nice image!! And it fits each Joel perfectly! It's a very strong name but still has a cute soft edge! :) I love it!!

I like it too. It's not a favourite of mine, but it has a nice sound and I think it should be used more often.
