Othello and I met at our last years of undergrad university. We both concentrated on furthering our degrees instead of getting married, and we ended up losing contact after a year of graduate school. I went to San Francisco, California to become an IT Consultant. Othello left for Washington, DC to continue his education and received a law degree. A few years later, Othello got a job in San Francisco and wanted to pursue a political career in the town where he was raised. Mutual friends re-introduced us, and we soon renewed our relationship.
We got married just a little over four months after we re-met and, four years later, we found ourselves not only moving into a new house, but expecting twins. Rosaline Louise & Wright Joshua doubled our family. Rosie inherited Othello’s family’s bright, pin-straight, red hair and green eyes. Wright is mostly me in features, dark blonde, short hair, & green eyes, but everything else is Othello. We call Rosie our little actress because she constantly wants to perform for us: dance, magic, a puppet show, it doesn’t matter. Rosie will entertain. Wright, though, is often overshadowed by his (often loud) twin, but excels in trades.
We waited a long while between having the twins and having our third child. We weren’t even sure we wanted more children because we were so focused on Rosie, Wright, & our careers. Our next baby wasn’t planned, but extremely wanted. Rosie & Wright were starting school and I felt my biological clock ticking. Thankful, Kipling Levi arrived. Kipling is an amazingly bright little boy. He’s so inquisitive and really excels at all of his studies. He has dark blonde, very short & straight hair and brown eyes, an amazing resemblance to my father.
I knew I wanted Kipling to have a sibling close in age and I wasn’t getting any younger, so I pretty much became pregnant immediately. Leighton Sheard arrived just one month after Kipling’s first birthday. It was so difficult at first, but after a few months Kipling began to love Leighton and today they are best friends. Leighton, though, loves sports – hockey, soccer, baseball, basketball. He loves running and has enough energy to play all day! His very short & straight, red hair makes it easy to spot him in the field, and his blue-green eyes look exactly like his father.
Our youngest child was a complete surprise. Othello, the children, & I had just moved into a new mansion. The youngest of our children, Sela Madlyn, was born just two years ago. She looks a lot like Rosie with her red hair, but she prefers her hair short & has brown eyes. Already, Sela is a sport nut. She plays hockey & soccer with her big brothers and she loves playing at her kids gym.
So, that’s our family. Othello & I are officially done with having children. I’ve quit my IT Consultant position to be with the children and Othello is a campaign manager. We’re enjoying our family and spending as much time as possible with our kids, because they’re just growing up so fast.
