I don't know anyone named Brooke, but I'm in Scotland and it was little-used here until a couple of years ago. There are little girls called Brooke but they're not in my social circle, of course :)
I think it's lovely. I tend to like it as a middle name, but either way... I picture a brook, which is nice, and yet it's somehow more substantial than a word name.
It will likely be considered dated at some point in the future, but that depends on when it goes out of fashion.
I loathe Brooklyn because it's a Beckham name to me, nothing more (I certainly haven't met one). Beckham anything is tacky in the extreme.
