Caileigh is KAY-lee and Calleigh is CAL-ee or possibly CAHL-ee, because that spelling makes the a look like it should pronounced AH. I like Callie though.

Caileigh = Kaylee
Calleigh = CallieThat's what I reckon. 'Leigh' should really be pronounce 'lay' but people like to use it as a substitute 'lee'.

Calleigh se čte jako Koli? Já myslela jako Kelly. Teď v tom ještě větší bordel..... Ptala jsem se, poněvadž v CSI: Miami je postava jménem Calleigh Duquesne a v českém dabingu jí čtou jako Kelly a někdy jako Kejly.

I'd pronounce Caileigh KAY-lee, and Calleigh KAL-ee.I still don't get why in names "eigh" is apparently pronounced "ee." Eight, weight, freight, neighbor... height. Give me one word where "eigh" is pronounced "ee."

LeighMy best guess on the "-leigh" = "-lee" thing is the surname Leigh, particularly in reference to Vivien Leigh. Years ago Lee was both the male and female spelling. Then people began using Leigh for a girl, which is backwards to me because surnames feel more masculine than feminine to me. But I digress.Anyway, that's the only way I can reconcile "-leigh" being pronounced as "-lee" at the end of created names.

Duh.That seemed to have escaped my mind. Yeah, it must come from the surname. :)

Leigh is a place nameLeigh is a place in northern England (now part of Greater Manchester. I think the surname would have come from the place name. According to Wikipedia: The name Leigh probably derives from the Old English lea, meaning a woodland clearing or meadow,[2] or the Middle English legh.Not sure why it has become the main female spelling of the name these days. Edited to say: Possibly the popularity of Vivien Leigh has influenced it as a girl's name?
