Okay, let me take a stab at this. I usually don't atempt to answer questions, just give my opinions and chat with my friends, but here goes... I would guess that it has the same meaning as Emily, which is a feminine form of Emil, which means, "rival".
Nan, Daividh, PriaposLovs??

Nicely done, Sarah!
Bullseye!
Ya did good, Sarah. :) Some claim the names "Emil" and "Emily" mean "industrious". But I see that our Webmaster Mike C. has opted to go with the definition of the Latin word "aemulus" as the source of the name -- which means "a rival".
The Roman poet Ovid, however, used the word "aemulus" to mean more specifically: "a rival in love".
-- Nanaea
