A lot of the popularity of Corliss was because of the radio program (later also a short lived television program) Meet Corliss Archer, about a teenage girl:

Corliss is very interesting to me as one of the first surnames to become much more common as a given name for girls than boys.
I'm not sure I'd want to use it personally, though, because of its resemblance to "coreless", which could mean "not having a core or center" and so sounds like someone with a shallow or empty personality.
