Ben is lying a lot. About what and what are you doing about it? We recently found that Ben has taken a habit to lying about completing his homework. We had figured that at ten, we could trust him with doing it and turning it in on time (after all, we'd never had a problem with any of the other kids doing so). But, with a phone call, his teacher let us know that he wasn't consistenly doing the work that he was supposed to. Education has always mattered immensely to John, and so neither he nor I were impressed with Ben's behavior. He was punished, and now, he comes home and immediately does his homework at the kitchen table, and one of us checks to make sure it's complete. Needless to say, Ben isn't thrilled with the arrangement, but we've let him know that when he can be trusted again, we'll no longer make him do the work in front of us.
