William - owns a bookstore called Parke-Laine Books; he is also an English professor at the near-by community college
Hillary - runs her own make-up line (Hill Laine Make-Up) from her house so she can be with her children
Kendall - just started her first year of college at the community college, but intends to transfer her sophomore year to another college farther away; lives at home while going to school; she doesn't know what she wants to major in yet, although she loves to help her mom in her make-up line
Liam - is a freshman in high school; although quite shy, he plays on the baseball team and is involved in several clubs at school
Elliot - a 7th grader who would rather be inventing new things or figuring out how things work instead of playing sports
Kelly - 2nd grader who loves to read and write short stories; is usually found at her father's bookstore after school
Ella - 2nd grader who loves sports, espeically soccer and tennis; finds school boring but likes being with friends
Gabrielle - a mischevious 3-year old who keeps her mom busy; she is extremely talkative and often found having conversations with the house cat or with anyone who will stop to listen to her
