As a Lauren, I think my name has served it's purpose very well over the years. I get a bit frustrated when people spell it wrong (Loren, Laureen, Laurin, Lauryn, Lorin...the list goes on) or pronounce it wrong (I'm a Loh-ren, not Law-ren) or get it mixed up (Laura, Laurence, Corinne??)

Just for the fun of it I'm going to think up some combos, because I have never done that before for my own name.

I find dated, but I still really like it. I've been influenced by the fact that every Lauren I've met has been extremely nice. I also just like that family of names Laura, Laurel, Laurence... you get the picture.

My favorite in that family is probably Laurie. Sweet and underused. I don't know if I'd agree with Lauren being dated, just a bit worn from being used so much. I think it's here to stay. Like Elizabeth it's just going to be worn into the ground I think.

I like Lauren, but it's too popular for me to use. I really like the less pronunciation common pronunciation lor-EN. I imagine that a lot of people would say LOR-en though. Either pronunciation is nice.

I associate Lauren with Ms Bacall. While I enjoy watching her in movies and admire what she and Mr. Bogart did to counter Sen. McCarthy in the 1950's, I can't help thinking Lauren hasn't "aged" enough for me yet.

I like a name to be at least 100 years old before I can relax and fell that it won't fade away and feel dated.

I find it sort of dated. [Or rather, it will be soon]. I know a lot of Lauren's in my age group as well, so it seems really common to me.

(However, I'd love Laurent or Loren on a boy)

I adore Laurent on a boy. But I've only heard it pronounced in French and that pronunciation just doesn't seem very practical here in the U.S. How are you saying it?

Sort of combining the French and English... lau-REN.

But yeah, it probably wouldn't be very practical in the US.
