Liam and his wife Temple were newlyweds when Liam's best friend Rick passed away, after struggling in the hospital for one day. He was stabbed in a robbery and left a young son, Ace. Ace's mother left him with Rick and disappeared. With no one knowing where she was, Ace had no one to take care of him. His grandparents lived in a nursing home and had no conditions to raise him. Liam, thinking of how his brother Johnny had taken little Emilia in, talked to Temple about adopting Ace. She was also a friend of Rick's and knew the boy very well - she immediately agreed. So little Ace Jones became Ace Jones-Fischer - Liam and Temple wanted to keep Rick's name.
Isaac and Hailey decided it was time to be parents once again, and they loved the experience of adopting Kiri so much they decided to adopt again. This time, they welcomed a little girl from China, Ai Lin. Isaac keeps dreaming of a boy, while he spoils his four princesses.
Fainne, Sarah and Selwyn all got married practically at the same time! Sarah had been dating Bill almost since the beggining of college and the family had been wondering when they were thinking of settling down, after having been to almost every country in the world.
Fainne met Mark in a rather odd way. She's always been a very big fan of snooker, and coincidentally, so is Karl, whom she represents in her publisher. At the end of a match she watched with Curls and Karl, after they had gone home, she decided to take the stairs, because there where too many people on the elevators. On the stairs, she found her favourite player, Mark Meadows, on the floor, with a concussion. She went with him to the hospital and they never lost contact. After two years of dating, they got married!
Selwyn married Florian after a year of dating. One day, she discovered a baby on her doorstep. She instantly though her parents' proneness to receive abandoned babies had been extended to her, but the note that came with the baby boy told a very different story: it said the baby was Florian's! Faced with the baby, he admitted he had had an affair a few months before he and Selwyn got married. Selwyn was very hurt and she thought very seriously about leaving him. But somehow she felt connected to that baby, like he had no one else to take care of him but her. So she decided to give Florian a chance and keep the baby, whom she named Gregory.
