[Opinions] Susanna / Susannah...

1. I definitely prefer Susanna because it's closest to the original, Sousanna, and because that h just seems unnecessary (sort of like an attempt to make it more Biblical looking rather than just a Greek form of a Biblical name, i.e., Hannah, Shoshannah, Deborah, Keturah, Rebekah, Sarah, Leah). Susanna looks more streamlined and lovely to these eyes.
2. I've considered this point myself because I adore Susanna, however, I've come to the conclusion that even if it does to some, it's no biggie. Susanna refers to a song not to someone notorious. I don't think children or even young adults would be overly concerned with the association.
3. I like Susanna much better than Olivia not only because it's less common but because I just prefer the sound of it better.
BTW, I read once that Susannah has traditionally been the more common spelling in the UK while Susanna as been the more common spelling in the US.

1. I used to prefer Susanna, but lately I've been leaning more toward Susannah. The H gives it a more antique look.
2. Eh, it would probably come up at some point in her life, but I don't think it's a bad association or one she will particularly resent. I wouldn't let it stop you from using it.
3. I like Susanna(h) much more than Olivia.

I like the spelling Susannah better. It looks more complete to my eye. I also like how it is the Hebrew version, as I identify somewhat with it. I don't think Susannah will be made fun of, however I do believe she may be given a nickname and never truly called Susannah. I also like it much more than Olivia.
I love Susanna, the 'h' seems superfluous and makes it too much like 'hannah' (which isn't a bad name at all).
I don't think people will relate it immediately to Oh Susanna at all and kids don't need a reason to tease other kids - they'll do it if the kid is named John or Emily.
I like Susanna more than Olivia, though I very much like both names. Susanna is a new favorite of mine, growing from my like of Susan, then to Suzanne and then someone on this board used a combo with Susanna... Evening Susanna, I think, and I thought it was gorgeous. Plus it's a family name for me so I quite like it.

I'm the one with Evening Susanna.. I'm glad you like my combo :-) It's a great compliment. I'm glad someone else agrees that the "h" is superfluous.
1.I prefer Susannah; its just prettier.
2.Yes, but I don't see how that is a bad thing. A kid could be teased for much, much worse.
3.I think Susannah is leagues above Olivia. Olivia is boring and over-used; Susannah isn't quite as popular, and though its an old name, it still sounds fresh. I love it.
