A friend just found out that she is having a girl and wants to name her Moira... What do you think of this name and what mn's would you suggest? She is the first baby for my girlfriend but her husband has a six year old daughter, Patrice, from his first marriage....

I love the name Moira especially when spelled in the Irish/Gaelic spelling Maire, it can also be pronounced Moya which I also like a lot.

Moira Caroline or Moira Josephine are okay

I like Moira--it reminds me of the referee on the old Nickolodeon show, Guts. The only downside is that it looks like "moist," which is one of the ugliest words I can think of. Maura's a safer alternative that I prefer.

Moira/Maura Caroline sounds very nice. Maura Nicolette popped up in my mind, but it might not be exactly her style.
