Daniel's family went into witness protection when Daniel, the CEO of a large company, filed a lawsuit against another company. They had done business with them and the company stole 500 thousand dollars from Daniel's company. When death threats and other threats were being specifically aimed at Daniel, the government stepped in for the duration of the trial and afterwards.
