Sam and Daniel were a bit indecisive about adopting from their own coutry or from abroad. Ultimately, they chose to adopt a baby from Russia! Sam now says it was fate that led Milla to them. They were told by the phone that they would be adopting a baby girl. Her name was Ludmilla Volkov - it just so happens that Ludmilla is one of the main characters in one of Sam's favourite books. So they decided to keep her first name and gave her Sam's mother's name, Johanna, as a middle name. Most of the times, Ludmilla becomes Milla or Milly.
Sam and Danny are loving the experience of being parents - even though neither of them can remember the last good night of sleep they had. Milla is a really active baby and the whole family loves her - her uncle Jon and "auntie" Gina almost fight over who's turn is it to give Ludmilla her bottle. It was Jon, Sam's brother, who raised the question: what would the baby call them as she got older? It would be a little confusing for her to call "dad" and two people come running. So they established Danny is "daddy" and Sam is "papa".
As soon as Daniel heard they were adopting a baby girl he went on a decorating frenzy and filled Milla's nursery with pink and butterflies, much to Sam's dismay. But as Dan points out, Milla seems to like her room, and that's what matters!
