When Janis and Larry told Esme and Ari that they were going to have a little sibling soon, they weren't sure what to think. They contentedly helped set up the crib [they moved into their own 'big boy' and 'big girl' beds last year] and made cards for Mommy when she was at the hospital.

When Zakiah was born, Esme was suddenly delighted with having a sister. She would carry around her doll, which she named Lillie, and play mommy by changing and feeding her doll whenever Janis was taking care of the new baby.

Ari couldn't be less interested in Zakiah, however. He was disappointed he didn't get a brother, but got over it quickly and is now content to play with his toy cars and Legos.

Ari and Esme will be starting pre-school soon, and both of them are thrilled with the idea of being around children their own age.
