Me: Calliope Blackbird Rhinthon ( Calliope=voice Blackbird=obvious Rhinthon= part of the name of a genus of butterfly)
I'd like a DH with some other power... how about 'O'?
I hope I did this right!
Hello. My name is Calliope Blackbird Rhinthon, but you can call me Cali.
I’m going to confide in you and you alone. I am assured that you will be sworn to secrecy—what I’m about to tell you I’ve never told to any creature that can intelligently speak English.
Of course, I’ve confided in my dog, the tigers at the zoo, a random passing bluebird… alright, I can talk to animals. It’s weird I know—I was born with it. The one doctor my parents took me to who actually believed us said it was a ‘genetic anomaly.’ I was only eight at the time, and had no idea what it meant. Now of course I do, but… well, I haven’t gone to any other doctors since then and talked about my… condition.
My first awareness of my power came when I was about five years old. I was at the zoo with my parents. I could hear the polar bears talking about how they were sick of the same sort of fish being served to them every day, so I suggested that my parents ask the zoo keepers to change up the menu. They laughed at me, but as my… ‘attacks’ as my parents called them… grew more and more frequent, we were forced to look into more serious things.
The birds talk the most I think. People think they sing, but most of the time they just argue—“That seed was mine”
“No it wasn’t bird brain!”
“Was that supposed to be an insult?”
“Maybe!”
As you can tell, they aren’t very bright.
Anyway, my parents never really believed me. I think that one doctor did, but I’ll never be sure. I think he just wanted a hundred dollars in quick money. Now I’m on my own, and I honestly am not sure what I’m supposed to do.
I’m majored in zoology in college (I know, very creative…) and graduated at the top of my class. That of course, was only because I could talk to the animals. I work at the zoo, but it’s getting rather—for lack of a better word—noisy. It’s difficult to think when you hear the monkeys chattering about the rotten bananas, the penguins about how tap dancing really isn’t there thing, the lions about how boring the self-heated rock is getting… so I’m thinking about quitting my job.
You’re going to laugh at me, but I sometimes like to think I could be some sort of superhero. I think I would want to be The Raven if I could be. I know it’s not very original, but it does sound a bit… ominous. Not super-villain ominous, but good-guy ominous, if that makes any sense at all. The only problem is that the name doesn’t really fit me. I’ve got long, brown hair, and odd green-blue stripe eyes, pale skin, small bone structure. Anyway, I guess I’ll keep thinking—and dreaming—about it!
Super hero… I’ve never really thought about it. I might have to give it a second thought after all…
Anyway, I’ll sign out for now. It was nice talking to someone who understands,

That was terrific! I really enjoyed reading it. Your significant other has the power to create optical illusions.
Cool power!
So, do I name and write about him this round, or is that next round?
And I'm glad you enjoyed the story (o:

That'll be the next step, but that doesn't mean you can't start thinking about it :)
