[Opinions] Mallory
What does everyone think of the name Mallory? My husband and I are pretty set on naming our daughter, who is due in September, Mallory Rose. I was wondering if anyone had positive/negative thoughts about the name.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I love the name, hate the meaning
I love Mallory
I will always have a soft-spot for Mallory (I read the Baby-Sitters Club books as a kid). However, it does mean ill-fated luck...which is a pretty bad meaning.
I used to like it having read first the 'Malory Towers' stories by Enid Blyton (though it was a school in it rather than a person) and then reading the Babysitter books by Ann M. Martin where there was a character called Mallory.
However, I don't like it now. My tastes have changed. That said, I see nothing wrong with it (depending on how bothered you are by meanings) and Mallory Rose sounds pretty.

It is just ok for me... I like the following for a girl
Ella
Marlee or Marlie
Addison
and this on I hate to give away because it is my absolute favorite...
Demi

While I personally don't think that etymological origin should be the deciding factor in choosing a name, the derivation of Mallory from a word that meant "unfortunate" or "unlucky" does mean that you and your husband should be prepared to tell your daughter specific positive reasons why you chose the name, just in case when she's old enough to look up the origin she takes it too literally. :)
