I don't really care for it. Barney makes me think of a paunchy 55 year old man or the purple dinosaur.I don't care for the sound of Barnabas itself. Also, when I first saw it, I mistook it for Barabbas, which is not a good association. Barabbas was the criminal that was sentenced to be crucified, but Pontius Pilate instead freed Barabbas and crucified Christ.I would think that most people would think of Barabbas, and not Barnabas (the missionary companion of Paul in the New Testament). I do love that the meaning of the name is "son of consolation" (which is the meaning listed in the original 1611 English Bible).
