I really like both names and feel you would have a good choice with either. I love Veronica Clara - no one suggested that yet. Yes, it's a little sing-song-y. But in a good way. While I'm sick of Lily, I don't mind it as middle name, and Veronica Lily comes to mind. In fact Veronica Lily is so familiar it is probably the name of some character or real person, that I had heard mentioned sometime, but forgot about. Therefore, if you like Veronica Lily, like I do, and you can't think of any associations, I would google it, and if you don't find any negative association, I would go for that. So my suggestions:Veronica Clara - you and your husband both get to use the names you like
Veronica Lily - baring any weird or negative associations that could exist, but I can't think of right now.

Clara! I love Clara. But if you wanted to compromise you could totally do Veronica Claire or Claire Veronica. :)

I love Veronica. It sounds sassy and sophisticated, and has lots of NN possibilities. Clara seems old lady-ish to me.

Veronica today. Veronica seems fuller, more defined. More personality. Though Clara Veronica would be lovely, and either would go well with Sebastian. :-)

Both names are nice in my opinion, but since Veronica is one of my favorites my vote goes to that one.

I like both names, but I like Veronica more. However...I would avoid Veronica because of the possible nn Ronnie. Even the possibility that my daughter could ever be called Ronnie renders it unuseable for me, although I really like it. I believe that you shouldn't use a name if you absolutely hate a nickname for it, because the nickname may end up being used, even though you may not want it to be.So, for that reason, my vote would go to Clara.

Vera is also a lovely nickname for Veronica.

Unless you can find an alternative nick nameWhen I named my daughter Fiona, I had no idea Fifi was related at all to Fiona. I thought Fifi was a dog’s name! But shortly after my daughter was born, some obnoxious family members started calling her Fifi. I have developed some tactics for discouraging it, and now hardly anyone calls her Fifi. Here's what I did:1. I didn't act all upset. I swear when people insist on an awful nickname, especially family, it is their underhanded way of telling you after the baby is born and it is too late, that they hate the name. We kept our name a secret until after the birth because we didn't want family opinions. Therefore, by acting upset, I was actually playing into these people agendas. 2. I looked up Fifi, and read somewhere it is a pet form of Josephine. Due to the flexible nature of nicknames, I can see how Fifi is appropriate for Fiona too. However, when my father-in-law called my daughter Fifi, I used this little bit of information to insinuate that Fifi for Fiona is "wrong." But I wasn't defensive in my tone. All I did was respond matter of factly, "I read somewhere that Fifi is actually a pet form of Josephine. Isn‘t that interesting."3. I found an alternative nick name. While I much prefer Fiona in its full form, and actually picked it because I thought it didn't have a nick name - just goes to show you can't avoid nick names - I found an alternative nickname to gently suggest should someone start calling her Fifi again (hasn't happened recently).
