[Opinions] Kira. (Attn. Bear!)
A very, very long time ago this was a favorite of mine. It slipped off and now I'm once again thinking of it. Is it too trendy-sounding? Is Cyra (sigh-ra) a better alternative? I love the meaning of sun.
Other opinions or names that have the same feeling of both?

I liked the book Gathering Blue as a child, so Kira automatically reminds me of the main character. It's a good association for me. I don't think Kira itself is trendy, though similar names are... Kylie, Katie, Kayla etc. But I think Kira sounds more refined than those names.
Right now I prefer Cyra to Kira, but that's maybe because it's new and different. Cyra would probably be mispronounced as Kyra, but that could easily be corrected.
Other similar names:
Kiri (This one has a neat meaning, and it reminds me of Siri.)
Shira
Sibyl
Silvia, Silva
Saira (I'm not sure if this is pronounced SAIR-a, sa-ir-a, or SIGH-ra.)
Sarai
Cyrilla, Cirila
Kaia
Kaila, Kelila
Keziah
Citra
Sita
Seija
Hope I helped!

I honestly really love Kira. Cyra is ok, but it kind of looks like a play on Cyrus, which I can picture becoming popular as a result of the whole Hannah Montana craze. I also really love Cyan and, believe it or not, Kiera. I liked it a lot before the whole Pirates of the Caribbean deal, and still do love the sound. I wouldn't use it because it is definately trendy, but that doesn't mean I don't like it.
I really like Kira. I don't tbink its trendy.
I hate the fact its becoming trendy because I love it, but I do prefer Keira.
Cyra is really nice too.

Well, Ms Knightley certainly has put the Irish name Kiera / Ciara on the map. (*Curses to the gods who told her parents to spell it Keira!*)
Kira doesn't get enough credit as a Russian name. Cyra is lovely, but the sound is so different and the potential confusion with Kyra ("KIE-ruh") is so great that I wouldn't go there.
Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to name. Or something like that.
!@*% it. I don't know. Why are you asking a bear anyway?
:-)

Because you never reply to my posts
And you always have so much good advice, especially when it comes to suggesting names similar. :-D

Oh, sorry. It's not intentional. You just don't need much help. :-)
I know how you feel. I once signed up for an art class and the teacher never made any comments on my efforts. I dropped the class. Please don't drop me . . . .
To make up for lost time how about:
Cybele (a new love for me!)
Kaia
Circe (controversy raged on the pronunciation of this a while back. I've always said, "SEER-see")
Kiri (snappy and elegant at the same time)
Kateri (I've been hawking this one a lot but not much movement)
Kari (short for Karlotta)
Connemara (Irish region. Another failed product soon to be discontinued if someone doesn't bite.)
Klio / Clio (I hate Cleo because Cleopatra seems so kitsch-y.)
Casimira (Does it get more elegant and intriguing than this?)
And if any of those don't strike your fancy, just remember: there's always Lily. Lily fixes everything. I just love Lily (gritted teeth).
