[Opinions] Melanie
Any thoughts on Melanie? I'm not sure about it at all, so comments welcome :)

I don't like it, it reminds me of the Spice Girls lol, and I really dislike the nn Mel
I really like Melanie. It's pretty and feminine but not overdone or overly fluffy. I'd be thrilled to see a Melanie.
I love it. It's not used as much today, but it's still a nice name that doesn't seem dated or anything.
I like Melanie, and I think the connotation of Gone With the Wind makes the name even better. Contrary to popular belief, Melanie Hamilton was the strongest person in that book, not Scarlett. I've often thought about giving my future daughter this as a middle name.
It reminds me to the little mermaid and I don't like how it sounds so I don't like it
I want to like Melanie, but my perception of it is coloured by Miss Melanie Hamilton of Gone With the Wind fame. As kind and as gentle a soul there ever was, she never ceased to grate my nerves all through the book and movie. Less so in the book.
Tearing myself away from my personal association, I still find Melanie a rather plain name, but an admittedly pretty one.

I think Melanie is beautiful. Very soft and gentle, but still has a lot of character to it. I only like it spelled that way, not Melany or Mellonie (I've even seen it Melony, which brings to mind fruit salad or big breasts lol)
Melanie is a beautiful name in its own right, made better by the connection to Gone With The Wind. The character is so beautiful kind and even though you can't expect anyone to live up to that it is still something nice to reflect on.
I've always really liked it. It was first brought to the attention of the general public by Gone With the Wind, like Scarlett. Unlike Scarlett, though, it was an established name before the novel was published. It was just unusual. So I never felt that it was too closely tied to the book. I used to feel that way about Scarlett, but I no longer do.
