[Opinions] Emeraude
It's not shown in the database, and its the name of a very close friend of mine, though she goes by 'Emma'. She says that it is French. Wdyt? I wouldn't give this name to a person. I have a feeling it would be endlessly mispronounced and sometimes made fun of.

It does mean "emerald" in French, but I don't know if it's used as a name in France. If it is it's really uncommon. Like this it sounds very pretentious.
Gorgeous. It's going on my long list right now. :-)
I already love Emerald and Esmeralda so this fits right in. Wait. Is there a perfume called this? I hope not because that would cheapen the image in my mind. Time to google . . . .
Update: Hmm. It is a perfume. Rats. And the first line of the French nuclear submarine defense system. Hmm. Computing pros and cons. I'm going to keep it on my long list for now because it sounds so beautiful and I love emeralds. It will still make a nice mn. :-)

Yep. My first thought: the perfume
But it does look and sound nice.

I really like it--it reminds me of a character of whom I was very fond in middle school. :)
It might be endlessly mispronounced, but I don't see why a polite correction wouldn't clear it up. It's not as though it's that complicated a name.

I agree.
It feels so clunky to me. It does look French, but I can think of a whole lot of other French names that would be better than this... Mirabelle, Genevieve, etc.
I wonder where her parents thought it up? Maybe a family name...? It doesn't even appear feminine to me.

It's the French word for "emerald."
