[Opinions] Katharina
WDYTO this? I'm really liking it lately. I've come up with the combo Katharina Bridget. I've been trying to find a satisfactory Bridget combo for ages, so this was a relief! I used to know a little German girl years ago with this name and have loved it ever since. Opinions? Also, would the silent H be a problem here in America?

I love Katharina! I think it would present minimal difficulty in America, but yes, there would be some people. I remember when I was in Taming of the Shrew, my director was quite convinced that Katharina should be refered to as KATH-a-ree-na, but fortunately I never had to say it (would have balled it up and said it correctly). While some people will automatically use a 'th' sound, once corrected, they will probably say it the right way.
Katharina Bridget is beautiful. I have a vague feeling it was on my list once, but maybe that was Katherine Bridget.

Is it pronounced like Katerina?
I like KAT-er-EE-nuh, but not KATH-er-EE-nuh. The latter makes me think of catheter.

It's pronounced like Katerina, yes. I just like the extra H in the spelling - it looks more complete, somehow. However, I think Katerina is a lot prettier than Catarina. Thanks for reminding me of this spelling!
I think if it's pronounced like Katarina, you should probably use that spelling in the US. People would definately say Katherine with an 'a' on the end.
I prefer Katherine, personally.
