[Opinions] WDYTO Carl?
Do you like the name Carl? Which spelling is better, Carl or Karl?
Replies
I like both names, but I don't prefer one over the other. It's a nice classic, just not one I'd use personally.
I dislike Carl, I prefer more Karel or Karol.
I prefer Karl. It is my ex's name.
I like it, but a lot of that is due to the fact that I immediately think of Carl Sagan when I see it. He's one of the people I admire and respect the most in my life.
I like Carl and Karl equally well.

I don't like it
It sounds very dated to me. I don't know anyone under 50 that's named Carl. I don't like the sound either. It makes me think of curl, and snarl.

Eh, Carl's an old man's name. I want to like it, as it's one of those classic names you don't hear much anymore, but I can't imagine anyone under 40 named Carl. Maybe if a hot young celeb or character in a show/movie had this name I would change my mind.
BTW, it's Carl all the way. K names don't do much for me, as they just scream tryndee.

Meh
It's fine, but I don't particularly care for it. I know a Carl and a Karl, both of whom are coincidentally gorgeous; both rugged hang glider pilots, tanned and ripped and smart and fun. Ordinarily when I have a good association with a name (such as knowing a good-looking, nice, smart person with the name, like these guys), I tend to really like it, but that's not the case with Carl. It's fine for someone else, just not my taste.
I like Kurt and Kirk and even Kelly better, but that's just me.

I like it a lot. It's considered a timeless, classy name where I live. I would never use it though because my name is Caroline but if it wasn't Carl would definitley be one of my favorite boys names.
I like both spellings and both are frequently used here but I think I prefer Carl.

Its okay. I prefer the "K" spelling.
I like it, but only the Karl spelling
I prefer Carl.
Karl was a downmarket name like Sharon and Tracey in the UK ca 1960.

I can sound a bit dated but I think it's making a comeback.
I prefer Karl as it's less common.
