It's Layla. Layla (spelled this way) is my own name, and both it, Leila, and Laila are legitimate spellings for LAY-lah.

I'm Iranian, by the way. My parents grew up there, so I'm pretty sure LAY-lah is right. Any other pronounciation just sounds trendy and ignorant to me.

I pronounce it like Layla (it's a lovely name, btw). I actually prefer this spelling (Leila) to all the others. I think it's so much prettier.

I used to pronounce it LAY-lah but when I made friends with an (English) Leila and she said LYE-lah, I got used to that.

Edit: I had a Leila pr'd LAY-lah in a class of mine, but never got to know her. And I know a little girl named Layla, which I much prefer. Everyone can pronounce it.

more like LAY-luh. I know one Leila, and this is how she pronounces it. She's about 24. She has a brother named Lael. I think it's a bit much in a sibset.

I have a friend named Leila, this is how she pronounces it (her mother's side of the family is Muslim from the Middle East I think).

I think some people say lyla but not leela.
