I don't care for Agnes. It sounds very old, but not classic. I very much dislike the sound. There is nothing pretty about the name.
I knew one Agnes in college. She's about my age, 26. She was a tramp-ish, but definitely not hot. All the guys called her cow-Agnes or Angus.
I'd much prefer Agatha to Agnes.
