nah. don't like it. nmsaa.
I prefer Pippa or Petra...
Pippa and Petra seem like they will age better, and don't seem quite as trendy. I feel these names sound different like Piper (which is going up in popularity, btw) but don't sream, "hey I gave my kid a cool name."
And, you may feel differently, but I used to love Piper, but got tired of it, and I feel, especially Petra, I could still love 20 years down the road. I'm not sure if I'll still like Pippa 20 years out, that name might have the same short staying power of Piper.

I have mixed feelings as well. On the one hand, I like Piper because it sounds cute, whimsical, and upbeat. It manages to sound feminine without resorting to the standard "a" ending, which for me is also a plus.
On the other hand, I don't particularly like the "pipe player" association which always pops into my head, and I can imagine pipe jokes being made at school. And finally, I have a personal fear of naming my daughter something that doesn't sound serious enough for an adult woman, and I'm afraid that Piper might fall into this category.

I have a complicated opinion
It's on my PNL (for a boy), but I don't really like it all that much. Piper was the name of a character in my *favorite* book, and so I like it in that respect. It reminds me of a teen-aged boy in a traveling band of entertainers in a middle-ages world.
So... I like it, but not on a real person. And especially not on a girl. :-( Sorry! (I hate giving negative reviews of names)

I like it, and I totally forgot that I did so thanks for bringing it back to my attention, lol. I like the musical tie, especially since I play flute.
But if you don't really like it or have mixed feelings about it then you should probably find something you both agree on.

Eh. I liked it when I was about 13. It doesn't seem very feminine to me at all. I'd much prefer Pippa.
I'm curious how you already know you are having a girl? You usually don't find out until you are four+ months.

I really like it. Something in the sound really appeals, I find it very spunky and sweet, and I know an adorable 7-year old Piper which helps.
No offence, but i'm not crazy bout this name.
I don't like it at all. Not an appealing sound and not very feminine. I remember becoming aware of the actress Piper Laurie years ago when I was a teenager, and thinking what an unattractive name she had.
I really like it.
Piper
I don't like it right now. It just doesn't sound feminine.
Some days I like it and some days I hate it. I hate it more than I like it, and today's one of those days.

Hehe, I actually like that show. A positive association, LOL. :-)
Lol, agreed :)

lol! i think i may have a love/hate thing with this name as well! who knows though, maybe it will grow on me!
I liked it when I was like, 13. It's getting really popular, and it's an occupation name, which I dislike.
But I'd much rather see Piper than Pyper, Madysinn or M'kinzeigh.
But you and your husband should try to *agree* on a name. Don't use it if only one of you like it.
