[Facts] Meaning and origin of the name Solitaire
Solitaire is another version of Solataire, which can be a masculine name in French. It was also a popular name for male slaves in the Caribbean, and in the southern US during the 1800's. Solitaire can be a woman's name as well. If anyone has any more information about the name, I would love to learn more. I was named Solitaire after my great-grandmother, who was born in Normandy, France. It was hell growing up with it.
I am a female American Jazz Vocalist - solitairemiles.com

Hey we have briefly spoken before as I was named after Jane Seymour ‘bond girl Solitaire’! And it was my dad who gave me the name. He’s reason was if u look up Solitaire in the dictionary it means one, on its own, hence the diamond. So to my dad it meant unique, one of a kind. And that’s what I was to him x

I've never heard of Solitaire being used as a name. I've never heard of the name Solataire, either. Apparently it is a name, because you're named Solitaire. It sounds really, really cool (despite the teasing that could come with it).

It is certainly more flattering than Crazy-Eights! 8-P

The only occurence of it as a female name I know of is of the Bond girl in "Live and Let Die", I think. I guess in this case it makes sense that she's from the Caribbean. But I've never heard it used as a name in French speaking areas since it does mean "alone" and also designates rings with only one diamond. But I find it a cool name for a jazz vocalist.

The character of Solitaire in "Live and let die" (Jane Seymour) was so called because she was a sort of fortune-teller and she was always playing solitaire with her cards.

Solitaire means "alone" or "single." I don't know anything about its history as a name.
