Melissa's post made me aware of the name Tycho. I had never even heard of it before now, but I really like it. Is it too associated with the toy brand? Do you prefer Tybalt? Just overall I guess, WDYT?

I rather like it
Despite the comical associations I have of Tycho Brahe (famous scientist) and his exploding bladder, I rather like the name, really. I like Tybalt just as much, but think that Tybalt is slightly more useful. People without as much knowledge of names may pronouce Tycho "TYKE-oh," which could then morph into being an actually used form. Ew. Imagine someone naming their child Tykeo lol. But I honestly do love Tycho. Thumbs up!

I agree. I have it on my PNL, but DS would have a lifetime of, "NO, NOT tyke-o" ahead of him.

I kinda like it, and I didn't even think of the toy brand until you mentioned it, surprisingly.
The Dutch pronounciation (TEE-kho, courtesy of Mar's comment on it) is nice too. [And if I'm not mistaken, Tycho is one of Mar's favorites, too]

He was my first thought, too. Maybe it's just because I'm a history buff, but as soon as I saw the name I thought, "Oh, that astronomer dude who's bladder exploded! Cool!" In fact, when the toy company was mentioned it took me a few minutes to realize what toy company people were actually talking about. I really do love the name, though.

ouch, I never knew about his bladder, that doesn't sound like the best way to go. I discovered him in a historical novel actually...maybe I shouldn't admit that! Astronomy isn't my thing.

I've heard of it before, but only once, and used for a dog. Therefore, I don't know if I'll ever think of it as a name for a child. This is also the way I feel about Shiloh, I like the name, but it's a dogs name to me because that's where I first heard it.

Hmm...I've always heard Tybalt pronounced TIB-ult (in Shakespeare).

I'd heard of it before, but I think the toy brand is too strong of an association. I prefer Tybalt because of the Shakespeare association and the sound.
