Leander always makes me think of Oleander which makes me think of the word Oleo, which sounds fat. So, to me, Leander always makes me think of a very fat person.

But hard pressed, pushed into a corner and threatened to be tickled (something I hate) into making a decision, I'd say Evander.

I prefer Leander but Evander is nice too. I don't like the nicknames but Leo is better than Evan.

I love/strongly prefer Leander. I prefer it without a nickname, though.

Well, of Evander and Leander, I'd choose Evander hands down. For some reason I really dislike Leander, which is odd because my favourite name, Oleander, is very similar. But if I had to choose between Evan and Leo, I'd choose Leo, hands down. I dislike Evan and I love Leo. My favourite nickname for Evander is Van.

All in all, if I had to choose one or the other with those nicknames, I'd choose Evander. Even with Evan as a nickname it's much better than Leander in my opinion.
