Help[Opinions] WDYTO Kevin?
What do you think of this name? Is it too dated? Too popular? My sister said that while she didn't really like the name itself, somehow whenever she heard it, she would think of a really cute, nice guy. Does it have a nice-guy image?

I really hate to say this, but it is just based on my personal association... my BIL is named Kevin, and he is the relative that always come drunk to family functions. And looks-wise... he has no neck... kind of freaky. So that is what it makes me think of... a drunk with no neck.

It's very dated here and has become a bit of a nickname for lazy teenage boys after the Harry Enfield character. In one office I worked in there were several women with teenage sons and they all referred to them as "my Kevin".

For me, Kevin does have a nice-guy image, but he's a nice guy in his 30s or 40s. I really consider it dated. I checked the SSA list, and I'm surprised it's still so popular.

It's way too popular here (#37 in 2007). I don't like it all mostly because (and forgive me for saying this) it's a name low class people use (not working class, but low class, those who think an Anglo-American name is "cool".)
I also hate all the weird spellings of it, especially Cevin which makes no sense whatsoever.

Yes, and I've seen it more than once. It's like people actually think it's a legit alternative spelling.

I neither like nor dislike the name. I don't really think it's dated, Kevin has a fresh feel no matter the age of the bearer.
My husband is a Kevin, so yes, imo, it does bring to mind a nice guy.

In my mind the name conjures up the image of someone very boring and ordinary... nothing special.

I've never been into Kevin and yes, it does seem dated to me just because I've known so many. Nice-guy image? Most definitely.

I like Kevin. It's one of those names that I used to think was more appropriate for boys aged ten and under until I started meeting adult Kevins. Now I find it more versatile and considerably more appealing. :-)
It does definitely have a friendly image. Very down to earth as well. I can picture nice, easygoing guys named Kevin.

I love Kevin! Of course, it's because Kevin is my favorite uncle's name. The rest of my family sort of looks at me like I'm crazy for having an interest in history, literature, art, and names. They are all mathematically minded. My uncle actually shares my interests and I can have a conversation with him without feeling like I'm crazy.

I could definitely see it having a nice-guy image. But for me it's got more of a slacker image, because there's a Kevin in my class who hardly ever bothers to show up half the time, and when he does hand in an assignment, he always points out the holes in the design right away.
