[Opinions] August?
WDYT of the name August? Do you prefer it on a boy or girl? Lately I've been loving it as a middle name for both sexes, but I think I prefer for a girl (and ONLY as a mn). Any fn suggestions to go with the mn August? Thanks!

It's one of my new favorites.
Even though August Rush was a disappointing movie, it did introduce me to the name, which I think is very strong for a boy or a girl. I prefer it on a boy, though.

It's been a nickname of mine for almost a decade (long story there), though I don't mind if it's unisex, but I think Augusta is much cooler on a female.
It's all boy to me mostly because it's a traditional, classic male name where I live (it's even in the top 100). I could only see it as a girls name in an English speaking context since it's also a month then. But I still think it a wonderful name for a boy (and in fact my favorite name) and not so much for a girl.
I like August, but only for a boy. To me it sounds too masculine for a girl.
It's all boy to me and I love it.
Just reminds me too much of the month. I dont like it at all.
All male to me, thanks to Augustus. I love it in the middle, but that's because I am no fan of Gus. Gus is all Cinderella's fat mouse friend, to me. (but then I have a princess obsessed almost 4 year old girl...) :D

I adore August on a girl
Well, I like it. though of course I am a bit biased, it's my first name (though I go by my middle, which is quite obviously Rose.)
I think I do prefer it on a boy, though for a girl it could also work, and obviously I've lived with it for quite a while and haven't ever been bullied or have had any negative things said about it. the nn Gusty is also quite cute, in my opinion.

Love August, but only for a boy. Henry August is my favorite.
I understand the rationale for why August could be a feminine name. It is, afterall, a month and other month names like April, May and June are always feminine.
But August was named after Emperor Augustus, so in my mind August is all male. Plus, I know a man named August, so that just reinforces it for me.
With so many male names like Avery, Aubrey and Rory being used for girls, I'd like to see August stay firmly planted in the male category.

I love it on a boy. It's a fantastic, strong, masculine name, so I think it's best as a first name. I'm really not picky about that though.

The only person I know named August is female. It suits her perfectly.
I'm thinking for a boy more than a girl.
I really can't imagine a little girl named August.
For a middle name, though ...
That actually might work for both.

for a boy, definately.
its not my style really, but its perfectly acceptable for a boy imo.
