Does anyone have any information on this name? I have found from various sources:Maya ~ from the ancient peoples inhabiting modern-day Mexico
Maya ~ "illusion" in Hindi (Sanskrit)
Maya ~ "mother" in Greek
Maya ~ from Greek and Roman mythologyAnyone have other info, or want to confirm some of that?

"Maya" doesnt mean mother in greek, "Mana" means mother

"Mayim" means "waters" in Hebrew (plural), and Maya is also a common Hebrew name.

However Maia does mean "midwife" in Greek, which is mother-related :)

being indian...The only Maya i know of is Hindi/Snaskrit meaning Magic.Then again, i am Indian (as in, from India).I actually know an Indian girl, about 7, named Maya (MIE-ah)
