I've been thinking a lot about this name. I'm concerned that this is becoming very trendy over in the UK, and maybe in the US too thanks to Isla Fisher. Is this name too "now"?

Do you think Susannah Isla sounds too singsong?

I find it somewhat dull (it's very popular in Scotland, of course) but it is pretty. Sometimes I think it sounds incomplete, like "island" with the consonants cut off.

I don't think Susannah Isla flows at all. The vowels run together (ah-isla) and the rhythm isn't good to my ears.

I notice it more and more in BA's. I prefer Island nn Isla

Everyone here knows what I think about Isla. ;)

I recently heard about a little boy named Island. I was just glad it was spelled correctly and not Eyelynd or somesuch. :b

Lol, this thread reminded me of the conversation we had once about names being "owned" certain posters. My immediate reaction was: Isla belongs to Isla/Heather!

I agree that Isla may be becoming trendy in the UK, but at least the parents there chose a good name to become trendy. I haven't seen Isla in any birth announcements here in the US, so I don't think it will become too terribly popular here.

Susannah Isla is a lovely combo.

I think Isla is a pretty timeless name, regardless of any rise in its popularity recently. I wouldn't really worry about it being too "now." It's not anywhere near as trendy as names like Isabella and Aiden, and even those names will serve a child well.

I think Susannah Isla is too singsongy, though.

I think Isla will age really well, regardless of how popular it becomes. Isla is one of my favorite names, and my top three combos are Isla Sparrow, Isla Jade and, my favorites, Isla Socorro. Susannah Isla is a little singsong for my tastes, but it would certainly be a nice name.

I love Isla! It's very feminine and pretty. It is getting trendy though, I'd wait a few years to a decade if I was going to use it. I personally wouldn't use it, the way I'd never use Katharina, even if I love it - I can't look at it without saying EES-lah in my head, instead of EYE-lah. For Katharina, I say KATH-ah-ree-nah instead of kah-tah-REE-nah.

Susannah Isla is a bit singsongy, sorry. :(

How about Isla Madeleine (MAD-uh-lyn,) Isla Josephine, or Isla Rosalie? Also, if you like Susannah, you could try Isla Suzanne, so it isn't singsongy.
