[Opinions] Susanna or Susannah?
I prefer Susannah because I always thought it was the traditional spelling (although it appears now that it isn't, but the blurb on Susannah / Susanna has changed 3 times that I remember) and because I think Susannah looks more balanced. Which do you prefer? My cousin says Susannah looks like someone trying to combine Susan and Hannah, which really turns me off. Do you think a lot of people would think that?

Susannah.Honestly, this is the opinion used in my Bible translation (NIV). As the Apocrypha is a non-Lutheran addition, I don't know how it's spelled there.Susannah looks more complete, fuller. Susanna looks too much like Susan, another great name but not what you're trying to achieve.

Susannah definitely. It looks more 'complete' to me.:)

Susannah definitelyI'm not very comfortable with its phoenetics, but this spelling is near perfection. It looks so beautiful and balanced on paper.

SusannahI like either way, but I think Susannah looks better.

SusannaThe "h" on the end always looked superfluous to me.

I always preferred Susanna, but lately I've taken to liking Susannah, perhaps a even a bit more than Susanna. The H somehow gives it a more old-timey, Puritan feel. I doubt anyone would think that you were trying to combine Susan and Hannah. Susannah is definitely a well-known, and acceptable spelling.

SusannaI am pretty sure that Susanna is the historical spelling. To me, it also looks prettier. The h just looks like it was added on. I just looked at this site http://www.guildofstmichael.org/guild/names.html to make sure. I can see the cross between Susan and Hannah. Susanna looks more like it was made not a cross between Susan and Anna to me. I do not think that sould turn you off though.

I love Susanna, and also Suzanna. And I kind of agree with your cousin.

SusannahSusanna seems overly girly to me while Susannah is more of a strong and level headed woman. I don't know why.

I like them both about equally. Susannah is more archaic / religious looking, Susanna a bit more modern. I also rather like Suzanna. In fact it might be my favourite of the three.

The Susan + Hannah thing didn't ever occur to me. I like Susannah - it looks more "complete" to me than Susanna.

I like Susannah better - it just looks prettier and more... complete, I guess. Susanna looks unfinished. I don't think that most people would think that someone was trying to combine Susan and Hannah, honestly. Susannah is legit in it's own right.

I prefer Susanna because it's closer to the way it's spelled in the NT (Sousanna, not Shoshannah which is OT) and because it looks lighter, more streamlined. The h is superfluous, imo. BTW, I read somewhere that Susannah has been the more common spelling in the UK while in the US, Susanna has been the more common spelling.I don't think anyone would view Susannah as a combination of Susan and Hannah. That never crossed my mind.

SusannaIt's just much prettier to me, mainly because I see the H on most names as superfluous - I prefer Sara, Terese, Ada. And no, I don't think anyone would see Susannah as smushing together Susan and Hannah.

Susannah looks more balanced to me too. There isn't really anything wrong with Susanna. It just seems incomplete to me. I've never considered Susannah to be a blend of Susan and Hannah.

My sister is Susannah, so naturally that looks better to me.Susanna just looks incomplete. The h does make it look more balanced.

Hi Caroline, How have you been? :)I've always preferred Susanna, but Susannah looks prettier to me. I just don't think the 'h' on the end is necessary if you know what I mean. :)
