I totally agree with you about Elizabeth, however, its nns are some of the best. I read once years ago that Elizabeth is the little black dress of names because you can dress it up or down depending on the mood. I agree there as well. Elizabeth probably has more nn options than any other name (over 30). My faves are Bess, Betsy, Lily, Elise, Elisa, Liese and Lisette (the last four I'd use for Elisabeth).
