That's a bit like hearing about a baby named Jane and asking, "But what wrong with Joan?" Well, nothing, but it's not the name they chose.
Luisa is a legitimate variant, and it's pronounced a little differently. I personally prefer Louisa, but Luisa is certainly not horrible.
