Random Event Number: 17Question: Since the adopted children are so much older than the biological children, can I create families for them too? If I can't, its okay, but I thought it might be fun.
The Thompson family has had a very busy eight years since Amber was born. Wil, at 36, decided to join the Navy. Two of his brothers also entered the Navy (when they were much younger), so Bekah believes that to be Wil's motivation. He has a Navy reserve job as a tactical intelligence officer. Wil, who has always been very good at planning things, enjoys his new job very much even though the family had to relocate to Virginia. Bekah is still the stay-at-home mom she has always been, but she has three more little girls to look after. Mary Rosalynn and Sarah Margaret were born two years ago, and Sophia Regan is still an infant. Much has been going on with the older children as well. Hugo is now twenty-four. Throughout his teenage years, Hugo was a big problem for Wil and Bekah. He continued to take drugs until he was charged with reckless endangerment and possession and placed by the court in a rehab facility at the age of 19. In his three years of schooling in the US, Hugo failed to learn much English and his work suffered greatly. He did not graduate from high school, but became a dropout. He would often take Jonas and go off to places that Wil and Bekah could only imagine. Hugo never really got involved with girls, but he did have a short stint with a girl from Latin America. Wil and Bekah know only that her name was Inez and that she and Hugo had a son together, named Keegan Miguel. Keegan is now six and living with his maternal grandparents. Hugo does not know where Inez is. After five and a half years of battling with Wil and Bekah, Hugo had a breakthrough. At the age of twenty-two, he began taking courses at a community college to get his GED and found a steady part-time job. Hugo wants to become a German translator, but first he needs to learn a lot more English. He is also interested in travelling and wishes to return to Germany to live some day. Jonas is twenty-two. For a brief period, while he lived with Wil and Bekah, Jonas seemed to improve. He stopped doing drugs and was trying hard to complete his schoolwork and be nice to his siblings. When he turned eighteen, all that went out the window. Jonas simply disappeared and, for two and a half years, Wil and Bekah heard nothing from him. Three months after Mary and Sarah were born, Bekah recieved a phone call from the NYPD asking if she knew of a Jonas Pascal Thompson. Bekah said that she did and was shocked to learn that Jonas was lying in a hospital bed. He had been shot in a gang-related argument. Immediately, Wil flew to New York to see Jonas. He stayed there for two weeks while Jonas recovered enough to come home. Jonas denies ever having belonged to any sort of gang, and Wil believes that he was simply hanging out with the wrong crowd. Jonas is currently living with his brother Hugo in an apartment six miles from the Thompson home. He is voluntarily attending therapy to resolve his drug, alcohol, smoking, and emotional problems. Wil and Bekah hold out hope that he will be able to turn his life around like Hugo has. Katharine, now called Kathy, is twenty. She responded well to the therapy sessions and still attends therapy once a month. She tells Bekah that having the smaller girls (Eira and Amber) around the house really helped her to see that life was worth living. She is very thankful that Wil and Bekah adopted her and her siblings, as troubled as they all were (and still are). Kathy became an honors student in high school and is now attending college. She wants to become a social worker and specialize in domestic adoptions. Kathy is also very open about her story and travels around to area high schools and middle schools to share her story. Kathy is a very good soccer player as well. Lara is seventeen. It took her four years to become what Bekah considers "normal". Lara still suffers from nightmares and is afraid of the dark. Lara began to flourish in high school, when she met her best friend, Amy. The pair is very much alike in personality and interests. Lara is
