To be brutally honest, I dislike it. Why name a child after a weapon? It's in the line of those annoying super-macho somewhat phallic boys names such as Colt, Gage etc. that seem to be becoming popular these days.

Lance is a terrible name in my opinion. It only works as a nn for Lancelot, which I can only tolerate, because it is my dog's name. The name is kind of snooty and makes me think of Lance Bass and in the case of Lancelot adultery. I agree with Octavia as well.

To be honest the only reason that is my dogs name is because it was picked when I was ten and I didn't know much about Arthurian legend.
