[Opinions] Auden
I would like to have your thoughts on the potential name Auden for a girl. The idea came to my mind after reading a poem by W.H. Auden. I tend to like if for it's softer than the similar sounding name Arden and it has a more classic timless feel than the similar sounding name of Autumn. Also as far as namesakes go, W.H. Auden is a fine one to have.

I don't care for surnames as first names. I don't think Auden sounds particularly feminine and besides I think it sounds too similar to audit.
I like Arden and Auden. My husband and I met an Auden years ago when we were looking for an apartment - he liked it, which surprised me! I think it's a fine namesake, and even though he was a male poet, surnames are unisex these days.
It's not bad. I do see the appeal, but it's a little to close to "odd one" for my comfort. I would reserve it for the middle name, personally.
I know a boy named Auden. I dislike it on a boy and a girl.
For me, the idea of naming a girl after a male poet is a bit weird, it's as if someone wanted to name a son Jane because of Jane Austen.
Moreover, I don't like surnamey names for both genders, and that extends to Auden in spite of the namesake.

I think it's okay. The actor Noah Wyle ("ER") has a young daughter with this name.
I didn't like it at first, but after hearing you talk about it i kinda do now. It does sound soft and classial and I love that there is a reason that is nice such as the poetry connection.
Weirdly enough...
I was thinking about Auden as fn the other day as well. I was thinking it would be nice for a boy, but it wouldn't be too bad on a girl.

I think its beautiful and very girlie :)
I find it masculine sounding, and it's a surname, not a first name. What about Audrey?
Seems trendy to me. With all the Aidens, Audreys, Austins and Autumns, she probably won't get called the right name most of the time.
boy only. totally doesn't sound/look like a girl.
I actually kinda like it, but as breakofday said, you will constantly be correcting people.
Lovely, I think it would work great on a girl. though, I think I would prefer it on a boy. But that's just me.
Auden is very pretty. However, you always will have to explain that "It's not Autum," "Not Audrey," "Not Arden." If you don't mind doing that, then I say go for it.
