I don't care for bluntly obvious color names, like those you've listed. Green is simply horrible, within no gender or name quality to it. Ick. Sorry to be blunt. But, years ago, I met a girl whose brother's name was Green. I think her name was Lisa.

This is just bad writing. - "Secret Window"

I think it's just stupid, sorry! I always think of the saying "Green with envy". That doesn't make me want to use the name.

To me it's more of a last name than a first name, and as for "Blue" being used as a first name, I don't like it. Even if Blue is my favorite color, I could never name a child that.-------------Curiosity is the very basis of education and if you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say only the cat died nobly. - Arnold Edinborough

Blue, Brown and Grey are bad as first names. So is green, but to me Gruna (groo-nah or gree-nah) [Yiddish female form of Green] is ok.

Hmm. I prefer Greer, it has a similar sound. It's a personal fave of mine, actually.

I don't mind Blue or Grey or Scarlet so I can't say I have a problem with Green. I would just never do it. And I'd only ever use a color for a middle name. What about Greer?

Sorry, but I can't imagine a child named Green. The kid would be teased endlessly IMO. There are names with similar sounds, though (e.g. Brynn).

Well, since surnames are used as fn in USA, why not Green? Gray is already used. Though personally I prefer Green as mn."Bitter Green they called her,
waiting in the sun,
waiting for someone to take her home."
(song by Gordon Lightfoot)"You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."

Sorry, but I find it unattractive as a name. Also, I don't know where you live, but here in the U.S. Green is a political party and a synonym for anything environmental. Not that that's a bad thing, I'm "green" myself (or try to be). But I don't think it's fair to use a political term as a fn.

I've heard of colours being first names but never primary colours like blue, green, brown, red.....
I know there's a soap that has a Greenleigh or some such name.I would hate to see a child with a name like Red or Orange.....
